Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome, and we’re especially eager to find someone with construction and plumbing experience to help lead one of the projects below.

Current Volunteer Projects

  • We’re building a larger enclosure for our 9 mycoplasma-exposed goats! Some amazing volunteers from Jacobs got us started on building the barn. To finish the job, we still need help with:

    • Installing roof flashing on the barn

    • Adding gutters

    • Creating a drainage system

    • Building fencing around the new enclosure

    • Building lofts and elevated shelves to give our goats vertical space for resting and enrichment

    • Running a water line from our outdoor dog area to the new enclosure

Project Lead Needed: If you have construction or plumbing experience and can guide a small team, we’d love to hear from you!

  • Our small tortoises are getting a brand new space with better protection from the elements and more room to roam. Our longtime volunteer, Tristin, is leading this build, and we’re looking for extra hands to help bring his vision to life!

  • In addition to our big builds, we’re working on a variety of small-but-mighty projects to improve comfort, safety, and flow around Old Souls. If you’re handy and love to fix things, we’d love your help with:

    • Adding spigots to key animal areas

    • Adding fencing to current tortoise enclosure

    • Extending the carport to cover the porch ends and the goat/pig area

    • Rebuilding the chicken coop (adding new walls, floors, perches and sand)

    • Adding electricity to the hay barn, big shed, and coop

    • Installing lighting at all doors, gates, and animal areas

    • Moving the hay barn to replace aging metal sheds

    • Installing a shipping container where the hay barn was

    • Setting up an outdoor camera system

    • Installing shade sails in dog and pig areas

    • Building a shade structure attached to the hay barn

    • Sealing porch roof gaps and extending coverage out by 2 feet
